You may want to heat up the case a bit with a heat gun and place the bearings in the freezer for a few hours. This will make the installation a bit easier by giving you a loose fit. After the temperature of both pieces normalizes, the bearings will be good and snug. Don't go crazy with the heat on the case.

OR, I use heat to remove some stubborn bearings on an old engine but never use heat to install the new ones. I use a brass drift and pnenolic hammer and gently tap around the outer race until it bottoms out. I push the front ones in using my vice and a socket facing the outer race 1/4' plywood behind the crankcase.

It is about what I thought, but seeing as I haven't worked on a Saito yet, I figured I would ask if there were any quirks with Saito.

I have a FA82 on Seagull's AT-6 Texan, a FA91 on BH P47 and a FA100GK on Seagull Edge540. Awaiting my fourth, a FA115GK for my new project.

I may be old school but I don't like applying heat to aluminum as I have been told this can distort the metal once it cools. Here's a trick that auto mechanics use to snug bearings. Get a ratchet socket that is the same size as the outside rim of the bearing and fits into the bearing casing of the block. Put some oils inside the bearing casing of the block to lubricate, put the bearing in the case so that it is properly aligned to push into the case, then place the socket on the outer rim of the bearing and gently hammer the socket until the bearing is pushed into place. Do this with the aluminum block resting on a piece of wood. It works all the time for me.

Do any of you Saito folks have a Saito 1.30 twin, I have this new/old one just about broken in and running WildCat 10% 2/4 cycle fuel with 18% synthetic lube and WildCat 10% Premium Extra I got the rpm you see on the tach. picture.

I tried a 11 X 9 two blade APC on a 72 and had mid range richness problems as well as higher idle speed.

The Saito 65 is heavy for its displacement. They run easy but don't have the power or light weight of the 62, 72, & 82 engines

I've just encountered a new problem with my 62a and wonder if you could help.Over the last two or three days it's rapidly becoming inconsistent on the hs needle.Is there a way to search this forum specifically for that info? i'm suspecting a carb leak

Hi hobbsy and my apologies,i should have expanded on the symptoms and said that it's now almost impossible to prime these last three days.It stops wet with fuel and as it's inverted that takes a while to flick out,yet won't seem to draw any fuel when a cold finger prime and full throttle is used.Occasionaly i fluke a hot restart and she just sits there quite happily at tickover revs.Advance the throttle and a sweet pick up till around 5500 then it starts to go haywire surging a thousand rpm or so and at 7000 it's anybodys guess as far as to lean or rich.I've zeroed the needle and come out 4 turns then been up and down that hs needle in slow increments and nothing remains constant.I'm very wary of running it at full throttle if it's lean so always start rich.Five days ago it was turning a k series 12x6 masterscrew at 11000 which i richened back to 9800.The only other thing to be changed was i put an apc 13x6 on it three days ago and thats when it started to sound a bit iffy.Common sense would normally rule that out as unrelated but i feel like a treed coon over this one and wo'nt fly it till suss it out.

It comes with two Flex pipes I think. It also has a little clamp outfit for the pipes in a little cellophane package.

I'm typically a 15 min man but not 3D. I run 10 0z with a 56 and 12 with the 91's
If you run 3D with a mostly partial throttle you could get away with 10 oz on a 72.
