Nope, although Norma Jeane Mortenson (her real name) was around at the time, doesen't quite look like her.

I think it was jsut one of the factory workers, who looked good, and happened to be in the right place at teh right time!

Maybe the look is different cause the hair color doesn't match?

And who went on to become quite famous...

That really IS Norma Jeane Mortenson- In 1943, her husband Jim ? joined the Merchant Marines and a year later he was shipped off to New Guinea and then to the Pacific during the war. To fill the time and put extra money in her pocket, Norma Jeane worked at an aircraft and parachute-inspecting plant named Radio Plane Munitions Factory, where she inspected and painted planes.

True story

Take a look at the pictures of her at the bottom.

That's her. The factory she worked at was owned by actor Reginal Denny, an avid modeler and hobby entreprenuer at the time. He spearheaded a project to supply the military with radio controlled drones. They were recovered via parachute after they ran out of fuel. One of these drones is hanging from the ceiling of the AMA headquarters in Muncie.

Not sure what the engine is, but the picture and story is from Model Aviation September '04 issue in the Flying For Fun column. (starts on page 80, but the picture is on page 81).

In 1951 or 1952 when I was on an Escort Carrier (CVE112Siboney)they used something similar to that as a target drone. I was on a 40 mm Bofors gun crew. As far as I can remember we did't hit anything. Thanks for the memory.

Wow!! thanks guys, didn't think it was her!

I figured 'factory work' might have been 'beneath her' at that time!

What do you mean. That is the person that became Marilyn Monroe. Dumper her husband. Went into the movies and became a star.
