Just to keep the facts accurate....
Actually, E-Flite S60's are digital... Plug one in and give it a try! You will note the fast buildup of torque around center, and the high frequency switching of the motor drive.

Have fun,
David

Most people don't use digital servos on planes this size anyways...

Even at ETOC level competitions, most people just use standard servos. The one's I've seen most are Dymond 47s, Eflite S60s, HS 55s, and on planes the size of the Typhoon, HS 55s, 56s, and 65s. None of which are digital.

In most respects, we have...
-ZX10 system with 10bit (1024 step)resolution internal processing (much better!)
-True Dual Rates in Tx (and we have put a bit of EXPO in it.)
-Tx is 5+ channels with the x-port tied to CH6.
-New Rx to match the Tx

(All of the circuits inside are NEW)

More info will come on the servos a bit later....

I'll only truly be impressed if they redesign and configure the radio.

they should offer with out radio and rx like they do the stryker, i dont think this would be my choice for a 3d plane but at least that would give people options

I bought my original typhoon to pound the thing into the dirt with abusive flying, on the deck. Does nice climbing inverted flat spins. It's flexy, floppy, KE is always a chore, but it is the most fun I've had out of an airplane in years. I've broken pieces off it that were fixed with epoxy. I've torn the nose off in midair with full throttle diving blenders into inverted flat-spins.

This plane just has "abuse me" written all over it, and from me, it gets its just reward. Most fun I've ever had with my clothes on.

Pitched the NiMH batteries first day and installed a 3S 2100 lipo. Does very nice on lipo.

What he said. This isn't gonna be the greatest flying plane on earth. But considering it comes with everything you need, and you can just hop in the car and fly, it's a good deal. AND, it's extremely easy to fix.

It is easy to tell if you know what to look for... Just try it yourself (per above).
The motor is also coreless.
(Or, you could take my word for it. )

Well... as jmir said, let's be fair about the Typhoon 3D2:
People complained about the stiff elevator, now the elevator has hinges just like the ailerons
Servoes are upgraded to digital, I don't know if they are any better, but the elevator is sure improved!
It no longer has a weird, green TX with a Receiver that puts dual rates on the 5th channel; The ZX10 is 5 channels with ADDITIONAL dual-rates. It is also black and silver, and has X-port capability.
People said the typhoon was twitchy... the transmitter now has built in expo.
KE and rudder authority was generally weak... SFG's added.
NiMH battery lacking in power... Quality Li-Poly substituted.
ESC tends to burn out... Eflite 25AMP ESC replaced

The ONLY things I could think of that would make this plane even better are (hint hint) wheel pants, transparent canopy, and maybe an outrunner motor standard.

But hey, for only $10 more than the original, the Typhoon 2 is great!

ParkZoneFlyer,

Didn't realize they had also improved the TX/RX set up, especially the built-in expo feature. Sounds great.
Again.... all for an additional $10!

OK guys. I'm kinda new to all this stuff so bear with me. I started with the J-3 Cub, then the Mustang, then upgraded to Li-POs. I'm definitely hooked, so now I'm thinking 3D. Money is definitely a factor. Would you recommend the T2 or cinching up my belt and getting the proper gear and an ARTF?

Well, I would say definitely buy your own gear, that can be exchanged in between planes. This is good because it can be transferred, unlike mostof the stuff in the PZ planes.

BUT, if money is an object, then I don't really think you can go wrong with the typhoon 2. It was good before, but now that it's upgraded and problems have been fixed, it makes it a great first 3D plane.

All, I have recently flown this plane with my flying partner at an abandon air field (Brooks AFB) and have had erractic/intermitten loss of control. The engine will burp or the plane will twitch into a steep bank or dive inconsistant with the XMTR input. The plane seems very sensitive on the controls. The worst event was when it would not perform a basic roll, at wich point we grounded the plane and went back to the Hobby Store. Now, I am new to sport 3D flying, but have 20 years exp in building and flying a variety of craft. My first thought was RFI, but the Freq checker was clean, and we flew several other planes that day without issue. 2nd, we swapped the 1800 stock LiPo with a 2200 spare, same results. The Store called Tech Support, which after a 3rd round of spec checks/troubleshooting found nothing wrong??? I did get some HD video of the flight and could see the AILs twitch and pitch the wings sharply during a level downwind run at about 40-50% throttle. Also, nothing on the ground checks showed this twitch, it seems to only happen after about the first minute of flight??? Anyone with a clue or tip would be greatly appreciated.

Funny you should say that. A kid where I fly just got the T2 as his second plane, and first aileron plane. He originally had the T1, but had receiver issues and the LHS upgraded at no extra charge.

His plane does the exact same thing. Out of nowhere it will whip to one side or dive. So far he has done fine with it, and I'm sure he would have more fun without so many glitches. He's going to try a HITEC electron 6 receiver in it and see what happens.

Good news here, my Typhoon 2 backorder shipped on July 6th

I sure am sorry to hear about glitch problems already! Im not going into it expecting a problem but I'm sure this thead will have plenty of reviews soon. I have been a "wet engine" ( four stroke ) fan for quite a few years but I started keeping the Stryker in my Explorer for a quick flight here and there. A few other well seasoned pilots in our club really enjoy the original Typhoon even thought they too have several G's worth of kit built fuel models in their hangers.. Im one of the last to buy electric ARFs and I cant wait to fly the new Typhoon. I will post after I get my Typhoon out for a few flights.
