Status: offline 		hi, i am new here and am trying to get info for some of my customers and myself. i will use myself as an example tho. i have a traxxas villian 4 boat that uses the old 7.2 huge batt. packs. it takes two to deliver enough power to run the boat for 10 - 15 minutes. is there a special way to wire lipos to get them to take the old styles place, or can i just replace the connectors and run them instead? also do i have to change my speed controller if i switch to lipos?

All you need are two 2S (7.4v) lipos of whatever capacity you want, put on whatever connectors you want to use, I highly suggest you use deans if you aren't already, make sure the esc has the same connector and go.

You don't have to change the esc, did you change it when you go from nicad to nimh? Batteries just deliver voltage and current. Remember that the motor specs determine which esc you use and the esc determines the batteries.

You will need to make sure that your speed controller has an appropriate Low Voltage Cut Off or stop running the boat when you notice a significant drop in power or the LiPo batteries will not like it.
