It will not happen again with the new hub, they are solid and do not have the relief between the prop bolt holes and the magnet ring. If you look at a picture of a DLE111 you will see the new style hub. Why did it happen in the first place, I have always thought the hub on 100 was a bit on the light side for the engine but there are several factors that could contribute to a marginal hub cracking. The vast majority have not cracked though.

Nope, original plugs still in my engines, in fact, I don't own an NGK CM-6. Two others in my stable, a DLE55 and a first edition 50 with the small mounting ears that is about 2-1/2 years old all have the original factory plugs in them.

I see you helped the gent in Canada with this hub replacement. Where can I here in the US get this hub, or should I just send this engine back.  I guess you get what you pay for. I should have known not to purchase a china made engine.

Hate to tell ya Supercharged, but early DA 150's had a hub cracking issue. DA handled it exactly as DL is doing. People sent them back and got them replaced. Those with a little talent did it themselves.

Product development is moving rapidly where 2 stroke gas aero engines are concerned. Most of the manufacturers have the greatest intent and do their best, but even the best have minor issues from time to time. The DL engine line is quite powerful, and some of the dealers are quite good at taking care of customer problems. If you have that and an "affordable" engine, where's the problem?

What's with the 'tude? If I helped "the gent in Canada", as well as many others, why would I not help you? I am in the US, all you need to do is ask and you shall recieve.

Anyone here familiar with this new MT80 motor? appears to be a DA-85 clone but at 80cc rather than 85 like the DA.

Might be better if you started a new thread with that post. It is somewhat of a conflict in this thread.

The problem, as small as it is, is that MT is made by a different manufacturer, and sold by different distributors. This originated as a DL thread. There lies the conflict because answering the original question is almost assured to divert this thread from it's original subject matter. The first answer will generate requests for more information from others while the DL side of the thread takes a back seat to MT questions and answers.

Starting an MT thread would provide answers specific to the product and better involve those with the most information since they would be directed to a thread specific to their area of interest. None of the previous was intended to offend or irritate, but to assist in providing you the best possible way to obtain the answers you seek.

The same up here Jody. There are three other DL100's between my friends here. All of them are the original "brown box" engines and have no cracking problems with their hubs. Mine is a newer "blue box" engine that was purchased just before the 111 came out. That could mean abosolutly nothing or it could mean there was some bad hubs in some of the later engines before they switched to the DLE111. I am not going to try and guess one way or the other. All I can say is I for one am very happy with the performance and quality of my engine. Every manufacturer has issues that come up from time to time.

Yes. That is what comes with a 4" Ultimate spinner is a 4" cap screw. I have never had a problem with them. The ones that come with them are 10/32 though and I change them to 5mm. There isn't much strain on it though as it doesn't hold the prop, just the spinner.

What you are experiencing is the reason I shifted to spinners using side screws to keep them on the backplate a few years ago. A little more time and effort in the mounting but never again on a quest hither and yon for the right length center screw and no more deformed backplates by over tightening the center screw.

Jody are you going to help me with this. I see you just ignored me.  I have no idea who you are. I have no idea what you do, I just know you helped someone else with this problem. I guess you have parts or can get parts or something. I take it you sell this engine or own a shop or something.
I contacted the person who sold me this. I contacted paypal. I contacted the Consumer Product saftey  Commission.
I purchaesed another engine from china. I had nothing but problems with that engine. The casting on the block broke. This is why I said I should have no purchased another china made engine. It was not the dl line of engines, but I see they all have problems. I will stick with the 3w line of engines of something on that par.
This engine will be returned, I will get a full refund and I will not look back. This is a real bad issue with this engine. I could not see this crack on my preflight walk around. I only noticed this after I removed the prop. If I would have kept flying this could have hurt or killed me or someone around me.
If I found this on my real plane the hole line of planes flying with this hub would be grounded from the FAA  sense more then a few have had this problem.
The 610 Zodiac was grounded for something real close to this, but it has a spar that would crack then fail, a few where killed because of this.

Pretty hard to beat that kind of service! Jody is going to warranty an engine that was purchased from someone else.
I think I would talk a little nicer to him!
