Hope Bob posts more info, and that someone gets one fast and starts posting info here. I'm just starting the thread to get a place to post info and experience on this new toy.

Status: offline 		It very well may be me, Pat, but depends on how many others have already asked for theirs.
Based on my experience with several of the 50's, I'm pretty comfortable giving it a go.
What's the worst that could happen? (Besides a crash from a deadstick) DL USA will provide excellent warranty and service support, so I have no qualms there.

I also have never OWNED a twin anything, much less this big, so I will be on the bottom of the learning curve.

Status: offline 		I was on the phone awhile ago with Bob at DLUSA. He doesn't have a firm "in house" date yet, but said he'd let us know. I expect it will be well worth waiting *and* paying for.....

Will have to figure out what to do about that dang one backwards muffler, though. That is "weird", if there ever was.....but maybe on true production units it's changed, who knows?

Status: offline 		I have shipping confirmation on mine. Hopefully, (EMS is pretty good) I should have it in a few days. I don't have an airframe, but I might just mount it on my old H9 Cap... Just to watch it run.

200 left the factory last Friday, so Bob and DL outback should be getting some soon.

Status: offline 		THere's a pic floating around somewhere, can't remember where..... it shows the downward pointing tube, offset to one end of the muffler body, but is installed such that there is a tube exiting more toward the front of the engine than the other.

Found it!!!!! Pic is on this post in the DL 50 thread - http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=7447187 (The top pic is the DL the other one is something else)

Now *LOGIC* would tell one to simply "turn around the muffler".... but since I haven't had one in my hands.... well, see my earlier post about me being on the bottom of the learning curve now....

Status: offline 		Of course, "DA" 100 mufflers would fit up, as would the J'Tec, and the "Silent Power" (Troy Built), and they all have the "front bottoms" angled so there is less cowl-cutting....but it was interesting to see the pic, huh?

Status: offline 		Pretty cool engine. It will be very interesting on how it performs. I will be ordering a DL50 in the next week or so. I pretty excited. I have deceided that if the DL100 is as good as Dl50 it will be worth the money

I was able to get some flying time in on the new DL100 today. The initial start was very similar to a new DL50. Flip ‘till it barks with the choke closed, open the choke and it’s running in 1 to 3 flips. I ran about 25oz through it on the ground to get an initial ring seat and check the carb settings. It has a wonderfully fast transition just like the 50.

The first flight showed very quickly it needed more leaning so I cut the flight short and re-optimized the carb. Second flight showed the same. On the ground, it seemed close but once it’s in the air, it isn’t. Anyway, 3rd time was the charm.

I mounted it on a plane whose finished weight came in just under 24lbs. I did so for a quick comparison to a similarly weighted plane with a DA85 mounted on it which weighs 23lbs (both with gas on board). What can I say… I used to thing the DL50 yanked the Bling and H9 260 around like toys but this 100 set a new standard of yanking.

Initial tach reading with a Vess 26B was 6700rpm. After 2/3rd gallon through it and a little optimizing on the carb, it held 6990rpm. I set the idle at 1700 which it seemed quite comfortable with. Again, the transition was fantastic; almost instantaneous.

Gas consumption seemed about as expected. The plane has a 24oz tank in it but a 30oz may be more appropriate. I’ll see what tomorrow brings.

BTW, DL has informed me the release date is expected to be May 20th.

Status: offline 		I had another fine day at the flying field with the new DL100. What can I say: it’s a hoot! There’s no problem pegging the fun meter with this one.

The carb tunes a bit different from the 50. On the 50, the high speed circuit has almost no effect on the midrange but on the 100, it definitely does. The midrange won’t smooth out with any richness on the high speed circuit. The 50 also runs fine with the needles close to where they ought to be but the 100 wants them set. It’s not difficult to tune, it’s just more sensitive to being out of tune.

Tuned “right’, it’s a bit cold blooded and requires the choke before each flight. It also takes a brief warm up to get the transition not to stumble. Some may consider this a bother but the reward is a very smooth midrange and an absolutely phenomenal transition. This thing responds to throttle like nothing I’ve ever experienced.

The 26B Vess is spinning 7100rpm on the ground now. The way the engine sounds, performs and flies the plane I have no desire to change props. I’ll try some others soon as I’m sure people are wondering about comparisons but I’m having so much fun with it it’s hard to remember to be analytical.

I did remember to keep track of gas consumption. 15 minutes in the air used about 20oz. Remember though that this airframe is on the light side and heavier ones will need more throttle for similar flight. When we start flying the CAP 580, it’ll be outfitted with a 30oz tank.

FWIW, the engine has passed my “test” and I’m going to be happy to sell and support them. Congratulations DL, you have another winner here. Release date has been estimated at May 20th and deliveries will start soon thereafter.

Do you have the static port on the carb tube-connected behind the firewall? It looks to point dead ahead; wondering if that needs minding?

Good questions...
I have it running on "broke in" gas now; that's regular mixed with Amsoil Saber Professional mixed at 85:1.
I purposely left the static ports exposed to see if there would be any problem and I haven't noticed any. I plan to install isolators (soon I hope), to see if they have any effect.
No stand offs were used in my application. The mount to prop hub distance is 6.6in. so spacing may be required on some installations though.
Stock mufflers are installed. On the quiet scale they register "not".

According to my trusty ruler, I have the following dimensions...

Cap to cap width: 29cm / 11.4in.
Mount to prop hub length: 167mm / 6.6in.
Centerline to carb: 13cm / 5.1in.
