quick question, if anyone has this charger or have used it before. i will be using 8.4 volt 7 cell nimh batteries. but i read that u can only discharge them at max with this charger .6 amps. my question is. how long would it take to discharge the battery at such little power and is it ok to discharge with such little amps. or should i look into a different charger that has up to 5-10amp discharge?

thanks. peter

Circuity do dissipate a lot of watts costs a lot of money. Nothing wrong with the Max 5W discharging limit. The ony purpose of discharging the pack is to check capacity.

It depends on the battery. If you have one that is 3600 mAh then it will take that long.

I've read in a review that the 12v inputs are live (hot) when the unit is plugged into an AC outlet. Can someone please confirm if that is true?

Yes, that is true.. However, if the leads touch, the unit will shut down without allowing any damage to the unit or the battery packs, etc...

After using this charger for about a year now, I've been thinking of making an alteration. I would like to get rid of the long 12v leads and either put a much shorter pair of leads with female jacks, or incorprate the female jacks into the unit. That way I can just use a pair of leads that I can plug into the unit when I want to connect to a 12v DC source.

Has anyone ever done this? Are these jacks the same as the audio jacks that you find in the electronics store? If you did put the jacks inside the unit, where did you get your parts from?

Thanks..........................
