T-One Models 2.7m F-22 build
With the build season here and 2019 coming to an end this project is coming at the perfect time. Been a really busy and trying year and I’m in need of some building enjoyment before the craziness kicks back into gear. My other project has stalled atm so this one will move a head of it due to many reasons. If you happen to have followed the 18 thread you can understand my lack motivation and needing to switch gears.
I had some flak on my scheme choice but as fan I think it looks fantastic from the pictures, I have to give the painter props he matched the pictures I sent perfectly. The new model with the less exaggerated panel lines turned out great as well, this was the deciding factor for me to pull the trigger. Not sure how long till it gets here but here are the pictures I received this evening from Dirk at Pacific Rc Jets.

I like it! A little scratch here and there will not be noticeable.
Are you aiming for minimum weight or just stuffing the bird in an usual way with bells and whistles?

I tend to steer away from the fancy installs these days, I try to keep the equipment to a min for weight and simplicity. My 18 project I benched was more about the outside and detail work than what was inside. This is part of the motivation issue on that project since it has to be completely repainted and detailed which I cannot do.

Looks great Keith! Mine is ready to ship but waiting for the new year due to shipping issues in China. Looking forward to having the production fuselage without the big panel lines and all the new improvement's made since mine.

My F-22 was delivered in September, it's been sitting on a shelf while I was finishing my J-10. Just ordered a pipe an some servos this week, planning to get started on the assembly in January.

I'm really interested in buying this F22 looks great! Only thing! I have seen a couple crash! Did they make any improvements to the vertical stabs! The crash at Kentucky was a total loss! For a 10k investment!! Does anyone have any information on any improvements to the kit! Looks really good in the air! But a 10k loss is not a good thing!

Both of them were prototypes and actually one crash for 100% was not the model fault but the turbine ,the inner part of the nozzle rotate so the hot gasses build up and this cost the internal fire , the first one I don’t know what cost the crash but I know that both of them were the first models to be tested and very hard and all the potential problems fixed on the production line jets.

Ok well what improvements have been made to this area? 8k 9k 10k at this point I want to know that if I go into maneuvers my plane won't break apart and crash! Any info on this matter would be very helpful!

No for a fact rudder flutter that lead into the vertical stab issue! I happened to be right on seen! Ok well what improvements have been made to this area? 8k 9k 10k at this point I want to know that if I go into maneuvers my plane won't break apart and crash! Any info on this matter would be very helpful!

Your right speed for big jets not to good! But a simple 4 point roll then rudder flutter then vertical stab failure! Would be nice to know what improvements were made! Maybe even see what the improvements were made! For 10k or more investment! Would be nice to be informed! Just saying improvements were made!? Must have info. and some pics! Is that to much to ask?

The F22 has some very big rudders and is capable of some very high speeds for a scale jet.
The Yellow F22 was prone to flutter from the rudders as well. My YA F22 is over 10 years old and pushing 150 flights. The rudders were reinforced with extra hinges, metal ball links, and aluminum servo horns with short and proper geometry. No issues to date.
I hope T-1 will look closely at the rudder assembly as I am strongly considering parting with my yellow raptor for this bird.

The model you are talking about was Barry's serial number 1 prototype. It was not even close to the set up the production F22 has. His had external linkages with plastic hinges . The production version has all hidden linkages with much stronger hinges.
The other model that crashed was mine. It was due to a turbine issue and a fire. I landed it ok but the fire damaged the fuselage enough to need replacement. My replacement fuselage will be here in January. We do these prototypes to test our selves and recommend improvement's before the customers get their aircraft. Mine worked fine I had many flights on it. But the production version has a number of improvement's on top of the one I did. Including even stronger rudder hinges, Stronger main wing spar attachment inside the fuselage, Easy removal and installation of the horizontal stabs along with others.
We do our best to test the aircraft before we sell them. Looking forward to getting my production version so I can see all the improvement's.
