the lake wouldn't be yet frozen, but I do not intent to go to water again even with that Aichi I wasn't very successfull on the water. So I will go on our airfield as a little snow cover would be present and try it in there. The fuse is already badly battered so no chance on water again. I still didnt finish the CAD for the new printed fuselage and I am not sure how it will be constructable .. so for now this might be the way how to get it up in the sky. At least i could walk to the crash site instead of swimm

Sounds like a plan! Don't forget there was a land based version of the Aichi if you want to convert it.

i think, that due to shortness of the fuselage it is quite uncontrolable. But this was a bad throw sideway to the wind anyway ...

I guess so, the only trouble would be with wing attachments and the fact, that the plastic doesn't float very well if full of water

Maybe you could print a sealed air filled chamber to keep it from sinking?

A light covering of .20 oz. fiberglass cloth and resin would provide the necessary waterproofing. Possibly even just a coating of epoxy finishing resin without the cloth would do the same job. You do a printed section, say the nose, close all sides then seal it accordingly. Place it in water weighted down to keep it completely submerged, if it doesn't leak within a few days you know you have th problem solved.

well, the resin works, it has been tested on that aichi. The best solution would be probably filling some part with EPS marbles ...
there are suposed to be scale covers that can be used to fill it in
