RE: *** Ultra Sport Brotherhood ***

85 vs 90.

This has been discussed on other US60 build threads.

If memory serves: It was determined that the angle of wing in only 1 or 2 degrees. The five degree difference is more then...

RE: *** Ultra Sport Brotherhood ***

Looks good..

The cowl shaping really turned out well.

Now onto the wing fillets?

RE: *** Ultra Sport Brotherhood ***

Reminded me of a song from "Paint Your Wagon"

"They civilized left, and they civilized right, until nothing was left, and nothing was right"

RE: *** Ultra Sport Brotherhood ***

What would you call that...? An UltraSport 2-45?

The geometry would be a challenge. getting the nacelles parallel to one another (and the center pod) And as group perpendicular to the wing.

RE: *** Ultra Sport Brotherhood ***

If I was building a twin engine, or twin fuselage variant of the US 60, I'd opt for something totally different for retracts.

Either retracts that fold back (ala P-38).. or some thing that folds...

RE: *** Ultra Sport Brotherhood ***

I *know* it. I saw that movie.. I want to say it had Danny Kaye in it.

I was actually thinking someone would say.. "We have clearance Clarance."

"Roger, Roger."

RE: *** Ultra Sport Brotherhood ***

I do my aileron mounts almost the same way. I think the sideways mount looks cleaner.

Having said that, I see two potential flaws.

1. The width of the slot may not afford enough clearance...

RE: *** Ultra Sport Brotherhood ***

I can neither confirm nor deny the previous statement. My US60 never had the opportunity to test it... :(

RE: *** Ultra Sport Brotherhood ***

As designed, the US60 uses torque rods and one center mounted servo to actuate the ailerons.

As I understand it, the plane flies just fine when this way.

RE: *** Ultra Sport Brotherhood ***

Wow..

Sorry Mike, I didn't think I'd spark such a debate...

But I'll add my entry.

I thought about putting stars in the red, but you don't have any stars in any of the other red...

RE: *** Ultra Sport Brotherhood ***

I figured it'd be a 60. Just had to give you a hard time. ;) It'd be fitting to put that 75 from your old US60, into the new one. I liked how it flew. Up until the time when the Earth temporarily...

RE: *** Ultra Sport Brotherhood ***

Me thinks Mike is secretly building another US.. :D

Considering all the razzing he took when he stalled out on his last build. (he did finish it after a while).. I don't blame him for keeping...

RE: *** Ultra Sport Brotherhood ***

I'd have to agree with Mike on this one.

I can see two possible reasons why I'd use two servos on torque rods.

1. The torque/speed requirements are more than a single servo can muster....

RE: *** Ultra Sport Brotherhood ***

Mike will probably respond with some cool drawings..

But I'll throw in my $0.02.

As long as you don't compromise the main wing spars. And you fiberglass the joint, wing integrity should be...

RE: *** Ultra Sport Brotherhood ***

What Mike hasn't mentioned, is that moving the landing gear out also passes the TLAR (that looks about right) test.

It looks really goofy with the narrower gear.

I plan on building another someday.

There's two...
