Hi, Olaf, the latest Heng Long Tanks including the ABRAMS are made using ABS,
The older models were of a more fragile Plastic.
Do be aware that if you need to use a debonder those used on the old Heng Long Plastic is not as good on the ABS.
Shaun.

Hi Shaun,
Sorry but i dont know what you mean by using a debonder ?
English is not my native language

For glueing i thought to get Loctite 435, combined with a primer it should go with ABS !?

Regular CA glue should work for you.

Debonder is what you use to take apart something that's held with super glue. It's usually an acetone based product, like nail polish remover.

Beware of loctite with plastic, some types of loctite can eat plastic. This has happened to me before, so now I use loctite 425 for plastic any time I think the loctite might react to the plastic. It's more expensive, but it won't eat plastic.

Here in Detroit it's expensive. I had to get it online and it still cost me $25 USD for that one little bottle. But it works great and it's going to fix the problem with the Abrams without eating away the mounting locations for the swing arms. Of course, I'll still test it before I commit! Call me paranoid, but I won't be looking for any more lower hulls because of loctite. Just ask Brett.

Weird... Loctite is a "Henkel" brand, which is a german company.
There is no Loctite 425 within the product catalogue and i cant find any dealer in europe who offers it.
I will try Loctite 435 and test it of course before actually using it on the tank

OK, I can't find it in my records, so I just did a google search for loctite 425 assure and I got 25 internet stores to choose from. If you think this is what you need I'll try to help you get some. That would be easier for me than trying to dig through paypal and bank payments looking for where I bought it.

Try searching " Henkel Loctite Assure 425 "

or try this link. Don't know if they ship to the Fatherland, though.

Okay, so 425 is for locking fasteners ? While 435 is surface insensitive adhesive...
I dont know why there are so many different glues
I can have the 435 within a few days and will test it. If its not good i will try the 425 if i manage to get it.
Thanks!

I use CA to glue metal to our tanks. I also use the Tamiya brand thread lock that is safe.

Now i have the Loctite 435 and made some tests.
That stuff sticks like hell

I took two plastic plates 2x2 cm, about 1mm thick and glued them together at the thin side.
After 12 hours hardening i am not able to get the plates apart by hand.
Pulling and bending with all power i have causes nothing, it feels like one plate.
Think i found a good glue.

Same effect when glueing plastic to metal.
