I have the Pirotti model with a Cheetah (160( and it is overpowered. A 100 or a 140 would be more than adequate, and I fly mostly off grass.

what's the UAT full weight?
I have a 29lb uat full weight jet with a 170. Around 36lb take off and I consider the power 'sufficient' but by no means over powered for my flying style. Even my Rebel HOT at 16.5lbs take off is not extremely overpowered with an 85n turbine, for me. It just disappears too fast!
If take off weight on the Rebel will be 30lbs or less I would consider a 140. Any more and I'd definitely be putting a 160 in it.

I don't remember the weight, it's pretty light. More importantly is that it is very efficient in the air. I rarely need full throttle for anything, it is very fast.

Thanks for your input. You are right, it looks fast just sitting there! It's gonna be a while before I order anything, as I have an Ultra Flash Evo on its way. But I just can't talk myself out of a bigger Rebel, given how well the HOT flies.

It's my go to plane and I agree, Rebels fly very well. I flew a MKII Viper towards the end of the season last year and it was dramatically different. I felt much more ahead of the jet in every aspect. That is why I felt I should comment about the rebel. Good luck and you're welcome!

Watched your videos, many months ago, honestly. I really appreciated them, as a general knowledge, informational video(including your build logs). Your video of the maiden has me leaning toward a first jet with smoke, and a 160 for power, to be honest. I come from a 3d prop plane background, where 2:1 thrust is the norm. I get that jets are different, but having power to spare, IMO, is a great asset. And other than my first(real) jet, every other jet has had at least 1:1 at take off, so it's hard to steer away from that. My Rebel HOT is seriously hard for others to follow, buts its been a true rush for me. I'm not old, but at 44 years, I want to push my abilities to their limits before I have to come to accept that there are actually planes out there that I can't keep up with, at which time, I will admit defeat

The Rebel 2m is a super light airplane, I haven’t weighed it but is so light... mine is with a 120 and a 100cc UAT from FCT, the 120 push’s it with authority a friend has the same equipment and running a kt100 it’s also great power, more that enough... we both fly at paved runway at 1650 ft above sea level and temps between 25 to 37* C

Good to know. I'm at around 2700ft where I fly, same temps as you. I will probably buy the turbine last. I have a 140 and a 170 that I can mock up in the plane toward the end to get an idea of final weight. Knowing me, anything over 22-23lbs dry and I will probably want more than a 140. A 160 would only be a $200 difference and 1/2lb weight penalty for almost 5lbs more thrust

Currently building Rebel 2m the instructions I have show

Aileron 20mm up&down
elevator 15 mm up and down
rudder 40 mm
flaps 25mm take off...………..90mm full

CG right in front of main spar
how are these working while flying?

If you like a forward CG, then what they recommend is fine. Personally, it's too forward for me and requires a bit of up trim. I am now right on the wing tube, if not just aft of center, and it's still very stable.
I set those throws, in mm, on my rebel HOT, and ailerons are a little 'hot', but I like a high roll rate, so I just upped the expo.

For those that are flying the 2m Rebel....are you measuring initial flap deflection from the root or out board edge of flap
same question for aileron travel

Those of you with a Carf version 2M Rebel, can you weigh yours for me? Empty weight, full UAT. it might help me decide on a turbine for mine before I actually have it in my hand and assembled. I just placed a custom scheme order for the Classic through Ray. This scheme:

I think I may have a screenshot from the last time I cg'd the plane. I think the issue with the ask is that unless we know the weight by memory, someone would need to go weigh the plane. Right now in the middle of winter in the North East, it is not that simple or practical.
