Hi ,

Brakes used are XICOY Electric Brakes FT 36mm. Power supply LiPo 2S : https://www.xicoy.com/catalog/produc...roducts_id=477

Didier and I manage the gears / doors / brakes with Digitech CRU, which is fully interfaced with JETI transmiter : https://www.digitech-aerosports.nl/p...uplex-2-4-jeti

Hello All,

Some nice shots from my friend Pierre of the last flying day. Tucano now have 25 flight, and I'm playing very well with it!

Best regards.

I ordered a 50cc Tucano last month and just got a message it's in the finishing stages and almost ready to paint. Looking forward to it.

Hello, I am working on the fuselage with the aim of installing a Xicoy X45TP. The CG appears to correspond to the front edge of the wing joiner tube. I am trying to decide how to install the two factory fuel tanks. Based on the photos here, it appears that placing the tanks fore and aft of the joiner tube is the popular approach. My concern is that if the tanks are plumbed in series, which I would prefer to do for reliability, then a change in the CG in-flight is inevitable. Have folks found any noticeable changes in in-flight performance with the tanks straddling the wing tube?

Of the 3 TP versions I have seen, one tank is used for the TP and the other rear for smoke.
I only use one tank in the front location and fly for 6 minutes and have about 1/3rd tank left.. KT45TP

Measurement this morning revealed that each tank is just above 1700cc, so I agree, one tank will be sufficient for a 5-6 min flight. I'll go that route. Thanks

I made a few changes to the landing gear rails. I'll upload the photos soon. I got the Xicoy mounted yesterday and the exhaust cutouts in the cowling are quite a bit off, so that'll require some fiberglass work.
Can folks recommend a source for the the curved exhaust extensions for the Xicoy? Zimmermann Schelldamper has a set but they are quite expensive. Thought I'd see if there was an alternative.

‘Not sure the size for that turbo prop, but I have a set from Kingtech China….they were $50 pre-COVID….a friend also has a set on his Tucano….but both are Kingtech 45….

I also have a set from Kingtech Luxembourg…definitely nicer, as well a set from Zimmerman (needed custom extension)…..those are a piece of art

Aquilon, can you send me the DXF file for the Wren engine plate you created?

Thank you

I would appreciate it if someone could let me know what length exhaust bends they used? Distance measured from the exterior surface of the cowling (normal to the surface) to the inner surface of the extension would be best. I'm going to order from Zimmermann and you have to specify the length of the straight section.
I don't want to have them be too short and char the fuselage skin and wing paint. Thanks

2FAS,

In my opinion, it’s more versatile to use modified K45 motor mount.

If in the future you need to swap engine from Wren to another brand, it will be easier to unscrew the motor mount and screw a new one.

Hi behzad, I'm getting one of these to build as an electric, with an option to mount a xicoy X45TP down the road. What part of the motor is hitting the cowl? Is it the stand offs that have a bigger diameter than the motor itself, or is it the can on the motor itself that's got too big a diameter? What elite motor did you try before settling on the rotomax? Thanks!

Hi, the short version is that the Elite motor is large in diameter and is short on shaft side so it will no way fit (does not fit in front of the cowl and clear the prop) The long version is that I bought the motor and the speed controller to have a good set-up. On motor, I tried and it would not fit in the cowl so I though that with a shaft extender, it would fit. I called where they sell the motor and no help. So asked Sierra Gears and he made me a shaft extender. But even with that, it still does not clear the upper part of the cowl. So I went with their recommended motor. Then I installed everything and i could not get the speed controller work with Core Radio. What it does is that it would not start until the stick is in the middle. (made many adjustments on Radio side and no change) So, I called the company that I bought it from. Unfortunately, to their eyes, if you ae not a Jeti user, you are no good and you don't know anything (although I started flying in 1987). so I have given up on that too and bought a Castle speedo a couple of weeks ago and have to install it. My time is very limited so everything takes a long time! Other than these two, all is done.

I hope this helps.

Behzad
