New Aermacchi MB339 2.5m from CModels Italy - minireview & build

To avoid any confusion CModels Italy changed name from C&C Models a few years ago and some production moved from China to Italy with all new moulds and lighter models not only designed in house but now also produced in Italy. CY models is a different company producing RC models. These are not mass produced models and if you order one you can expect a wait before delivery (not unusual in this hobby).

Hopefully Bruno has it a bit easier.
I placed an order at the end of December early January 2021.
My MB339 was supposed to get started sometime in late May
Is also a good sign.
If they weren't good quality planes, they wouldn't be that busy😉😇

I thinking to go for my evojet 170N neo with 17 kg of thrust, and then turned back to 14 to 15 kg.
This engine is a bit heavier, so hopefully I need less nose weight.
And can it run at fewer revolutions per minute

Hello Ferdinand,
The engine sits behind the CG so heavier engine will mean MORE nose weight.
In my view 1:1 thrust weight ratio is more than enough for this model if not too much. 140-150 seems perfect.

Hi Ed,
as I am thinking about a new jet model, I am considering either the CModels MB339 2,5m or the Feibao T33, which has about the same size.
After 2 1/2 years, do you still fly your 339?
Did you experience any design flaws / weak spots?
Did the LG legs develop any play?
Still happy over all?
Kind regards,
Juergen

Hello Juergen,
Yes still very happy with this model. Great flyer and no issues regarding quality or strength of retracts. Cmodels are well designed and built. My models is about 16kg empty which is impressive for such a large model and it is fully equipped, now with Powerbox systems batteries, Competition SR2. It was nose heavy as originally flown and I have taken some weight out ther nose. It is very easy to fly. The FB T33 is also a nice model but this will be heavier for sure, nearer 20kg needs a larger engine and higher wing loading. A friend ordered MB339 from Cmodels after seeing mine and has just had it delivered and is very pleased.

AAh, I waited a long time in waiting list but when the time came, the shipping cost to USA was horrible (over US$ 2,000.00) so had to give it up. I wish they could find a better way like Airport To Airport and Air Freight to ship these rather than just courier.
